Tecsun PL-368's external antenna jack

Can anyone confirm for sure whether the Tecsun PL-368 disconnects the radio from the internal loop antenna when an external antenna is plugged in? In particular on the LW band.

I'm interested in doing some antenna experiments on LW with this radio, but it's critical that any internal antenna must be disconnected.

I heard from two others that it appears the PL-368 disconnects the radio from the internal loop antenna when a plug is inserted in the external antenna socket. So I went ahead and bought a PL-368, and in brief testing so far have gotten pretty much the same results. We have a lot of strong AM BC signals in our area (greater Los Angeles), and some even seem to make it into the radio when no antenna, internal or external, is connected. I noticed this particularly when holding the radio in my hand -- probably my body is acting as an antenna?

Anyway, for my purposes it's manageable. The LW band sounds quite clean -- with most radios I'm used to hearing lots of intermods due to mixing of very strong local AM BC signals, and by comparison the PL-368 is much better. The one issue I've noted so far is that one of the strongest local stations, 50 kW about three miles from me, shows up on the PL-368 when it's on LW tuned to 153 kHz. Not the end of the world, though.

i live 3 air miles from one of the blowtorches - KNX - 1070. Went to North High in Torrance and KNX's signal got into our transmitter's nooks and crannies (KNHS). No amount of engineering could remove it from the audio or rf lines. So yeah, depending upon where you are, you will have sufficient coupling so that the rf seems to demodulate in the af section of the radio without antenna!
