Using the Retekess V115 for recording of FM Radio - Some questions please?

Hi all,

I have the following scenario I'd like to fulfill...

Scenario:
I'd like to be able to sit on an FM station for several hours and record this station in the hopes of hearing some remote DX during playback at a later date.

Questions:
1)  How is the FM reception on the V115 - I'm guessing pretty good?
2)  Is recording easy and how is playback accomplished?  Maybe it is easier to take the SD chip out and listen to it in a computer or other playback source?
3)  What is the battery of life with/during extensive recording?
4)  How does the V115 stack up against the Prunus J-401 (in case anyone has one)?

Not top notch in terms of sensitivity, but I guess better than most "ordinary" sets. On FM it compares favourably with my old Sony ICF2001D. On MW & SW the Sony is way better of course.

2)  Is recording easy and how is playback accomplished?  Maybe it is easier to take the SD chip out and listen to it in a computer or other playback source?

It's fairly easy. You can access the wanted clip by typing in its number in the order of recording.

Taking the chip out and listing or editing it on your computer is always better, with any receiver, not just the Retekess

3)  What is the battery of life with/during extensive recording?

Well, the other day I wanted to record a one-hour programme at 5 PM on a local FM station but had to leave home at 3 PM. So I started the recording with a fully charged battery in the hope that it would last for 3 hours and... surprise, surprise... when I came home shortly after midnight it was still recording. So I left it on to see how long it would last, and it finally collapsed just before 1 o'clock in the morning. Total recording time : 9 hours 52 minutes. I'd say the Retekess is perfect for overnight recordings for instance.

4)  How does the V115 stack up against the Prunus J-401 (in case anyone has one)?

No idea. Don't know the Prunus.

Ah, the Sony ICF2001F, always wanted one of those back then!  Settled for the ICF-2003 some years later and later the 2010 - cherished those radios!

Yes, 10 hour recording on the V115 is very noteworthy!
