Does DX have seasons?

For me, I find I do most of my DXing in spring and summer. In winter I find I spend time on my other hobbies and more time with my family.

I have noticed, on more than just this group, that the level of activity seems to come and go in waves, almost likes DX seasons. I saw a post a while ago, I am not sure by who that talked about preparing for the DX season. Is this the same for all areas or does it vary?
