Mine is R. Australia from CT USA. Back in the mid-2000's I caught numerous times their broadcast in N. Hemisphere winter early in the morning like 4AM-6AM. For this I used a Tecsun R911 and the lamp was lit bright. Seems that R. Oz was pointing their 100kW at just the right direction (azimuth) of 70 degrees on 9570 kHz. The distance by Great-Circle mapping is 16,676 km (10,350 mi.).

Before their demise, I also caught this on a PL-310 and 210 model.

Apologies for not replying earlier, welcome to the wonderful world of shortwave listening! Which radio are you using? As you can see from my post above, it is possible to receive far-away signals on very simple and inexpensive radios!

Your achievement sounds very impressive.  Congratulations!   I'm literally just days into this group, and this hobby.   What does "barefoot" mean?   Thanks,

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share another long-distance reception report, not as far as my previous one, but still 11 000 km (just over 6 800 miles). It is Radio Pilipinas, from Tinang, in Tagalog, 15190 kHz in the 19m band. I seem to be getting really good reception in the 19m band right now, daytime and night time. This one was at night, 20:00 CAT, 18:00 UTC. Again a comparison between my three sets, the Retekess V115, Tecsun R808 and Eton Elite Traveler. All three performed very well, all three barefoot, but the Eton was just exceptional, at times as clear as FM. Here is the link to listen: https://youtu.be/n0pUOS-OGlA

As an aside, I am waiting with bated breath for my XHDATA D-808, have seen so many good reviews of that one. Ordered directly from China, it has been in transit from the airport in Johannesburg to my house (50km away) for two months now, that's kind of normal here in South Africa. Hopefully soon!

I'm new here, hi everyone. This is my first post.

My furthest was just a few days ago, Adventist World Radio in Indonesian from Agat, Guam, 15500 kHz, during the day, around 13:00. I am in Johannesburg, South Africa, so that's more than 13000km, about 8000 miles.

I compared three different radios, the Eton Elite Traveler, Retekess V115 and Tecsun R808, you can't go more ultralight than that little Tecsun! All three barefoot. The little Tecsun really surprised me.

I think conditions for long-distance listening are good now, all three my little receivers are very busy every day!

Barefoot, eh? Why, that's only 7692.575 miles . . . barefoot. Holy smokes (and I'm happy when I can get Cincinnati, Ohio, from New York State). It couldn't possibly be patience, skill, persistence, and knowledge of propagation . . .  must be the fresh batteries.
