Modified xhdata 808 ferrite

Ola Fredriksson

Hi all, I’m a serious dxer but no skills to modified xhdata with a bigger ferrite(Gary’s modification). Is it rude to ask someone in Europe about this, thanks

No I don't think so,I wish I knew somewhere to get one,I know it's a specialized made and not available but maybe somewhere on planet earth someone will fill the void after I have seen and read so much about them of course I would like to try one.🌞

Right now I’ve got this solution. 20cm ferrite with capacitor. It’s not fancy but works better than internal ferrite

Not at all, maybe also look at some of the FSL designs he has done.

Hello Ola,

Welcome to our Ultralight radio group!

The 19cm (7.5 inch) loopstick XHDATA D-808 model is in high demand worldwide, similar to the demand for small FSL antennas. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere near the free time to build these models for sale, although I have given out quite a few of both items.

Since you are a serious DXer and are deserving of such a model, if you will send me your address in Sweden (by private email or Facebook message) I will ensure that you receive a new 19cm loopstick XHDATA D-808 model. I'm sorry that I can't do this for anyone else, but the full construction article for this model is posted at

How much would the total cost be to build one?

I've seen the ferrite rods and Litz wire on eBay so its worth researching. As far as the piece from the carpenters level I'm sure one can improvise rather easily.

Ola Fredriksson I've used a jumper that plugs into the jack on this and the other end go's to my external antenna jack. I set the ferrite on the window sill or if I'm outside on something at head level and the reception is much better.
