AM 1080 in my area = NOTHING THERE!

Johnny

Hi all,

I get NOTHING on 1080 AM....  EVER!

I live in Michigan and I hear not even garble on that frequency, from ANY of my radios...  not even a whisper of anything.

Do some frequencies literally have nothing on them?

From the internet I see that there are 10 potential frequencies that I "could/should" be hearing...  but instead nothing...

Weird?

I used to work at WTIC AM 1080 in Hartford and way back when I heard it in Michigan driving to the airport pre-on on my rental car radio. Since then other lower power 1080's went on the air and that was the end of WTIC in Michigan but depending on exactly where you are there should be something there from them or KRLD in Dallas, if not a local signal.

Thanks Jay!  That's what I keep thinking too....

Cool info, I'll keep trying!  :)

It may just be that all the transmitters there are currently slewed away from your QTH.  That and seasonal propagation may just work against your hearing anything there.

Hi John,

Good points!  I'll keep trying though!

Might be better in the spring, who knows?

Living in western Mass I tune in WTIC am, 1080 Hartford CT on all my radios
They are still there. I remember that station since the 60's or earlier.
