PL-368 Has this fault been sorted?
FenDrifter
Hi Ron Thanks for that, I have to say that with further use I’ve found that 99% of the time mine is spot on also 🙂. Each day I use it I love it more, it’s clarity is wonderful. At this stage I’m mainly listening to the ham bands, but I think there’s a chance I might get more interested in the ‘medium wave’ later, but being a totally uncompetitive individual I won’t be entering any competitions, I’ll just be competing against myself! For AM DXing I think either more antenna power might be the order of the day, or a different set, or both! I bought an XDATA D-808 at the weekend having read some very good reviews, but I hate it! It’s the most user unfriendly, poorly designed thing ever. Elsewhere looking shall I be 😊. Drifter |

Hi FenDrifter
I haven't tried the side band calibration. It seems to be spot on when I tune in Morse or voice on the ham bands. As far as the muted tuning I've used a Tecsun PL 600 for years and have become used to this. 73's Ron |

You can switch out the Tecsun brass antenna with a stainless steel one like the County Comm model has. Theses are available from County comm and maybe even eBay. They are sturdier and the green tip is easy to get a good grip on. For some reason the screw at the bottom of this radio came loose and my whip came out of the radio! Fortunately it was in the soft case and I found the screw at the bottom of the case. I opened the radio the rest of the way to make sure the end connector on the antenna wire didn't move away from its position and I could re-screw the whip antenna back in. I saw the internal ferrite and it is tiny! Its all of 1 3/8 inches long and laying horizontally at the base of the radio. Good to know if you use an external antenna with a ferrite probe attachment or something like the ferrite stick antennas.

This kiddie on SSB absolutely rocks! I have had more fun with this in 24 hours than I have with any of my previous receivers. That includes PL-330, PL-660 and my Etón E5 (which I still use because it’s just so damn friendly) and a few other old cheapies. This PL-368 is so stable and clear. I have so far mainly used it with headphones (not earbuds) so as not to upset she who must be obeyed, but the loudspeaker makes speech very clear and isn’t in my opinion tinny in any way. The only minor annoyance I’ve found is getting hold of the tip of the antenna to pull it out, not easy. I don’t quite understand why they’ve done it because previous models in this style have had the much more usable inverted cone type. This very minor issue aside I would say to anyone with an interest in shortwave to get out there and buy one immediately! They’re so cheap you just can’t go wrong. Drifter |

Well what a turn up, brilliant, yes it worked Earl! Thanks a million, there’s so much to learn about this little gem. It would appear I have the latest firmware (3684) so hopefully all the latest hidden features will apply? I’ll have more time tomorrow to look more closely. All the best |

I think long press display to lock when off ,hope it works

Hi all, well my beastie arrived this morning, and I’ve been able to spend a little time with it. To clear one thing up immediately, the previously discussed problem is no longer present 🤙. I have had loads of fun with this so far and expect to have loads more in the future. My first big love is it’s clarity of speech, it’s the best I have to date. It seems to be on a par with my Etón E5 in terms of shortwave reception, but in terms of clarity the 368 wins easily. I’m not going to do a full review of this, because I agree with just about everything Jay’s said here: https://radiojayallen.com/tecsun-l-368/
My only minor gripe is the inability to lock it when it’s off, and for something I’ll be carrying in my pocket, that’s a problem. I’ve obviously got loads to learn about this yet but at this early stage I’m very happy. If anyone should have any questions they think I could answer, I’d be more than happy to. Drifter |

No, my original model bought in February 2021 before they were available through Anon-Co exhibits the same problem. 73, Paul, N8HM So perhaps the YouTube link I posted was just an unlucky fluke? |

I’m still impressed by your generosity, so no worries 🙂.

Duh! Sorry I didn't realize it. I did check out the approximate price to ship and it would be costly to spread the disappointment 🌞 Hi Earl, that’s unbelievably good of you, but you probably don’t realise I live in the UK! |
