Last night about 7:35pm [est] I caught 740am , Zoomer Radio out of Ontario,Ca on a Tecsun PL380.
Was oldies format and quite listenable.  About 780 miles from my location, suburban area of Springfield, Mass. USA

Congrats!  Zoomer is listenable here in central Alabama  sometimes barefoot. Most nights with a loop antenna. Sometimes buried but if you hear music on 740  at all it’s Zoomer. I read that there are only two clear channel stations in North America that broadcast music. Zoomer and of course 650 WSM in Nashville.

Thanks Bob.  Central Alabama!  The PL380 was barefoot too. I will try my original PL310 [non ETM] tonight to see if it captures Zoomer also.
Harold
ps I will try to get that 650 Nashville station too, thanks

In addition to Zoomer you may be able to tune CHOQ (? ) at 860. They are 50 kw as well. It will be a zFrench language broadcast so you can ID pretty easily.  Comes in consistently here. Good luck. I’ve  tried to tune WOR in Boston with no results.

Nice catch, it is always good to read about the loggings of others.

Hi Bob (all),

That statement that you made, "I read that there are only two clear channel stations in North America that broadcast music."...

Is that true?  Kind of amazing!  I guess I never "noticed" that there was very little music!  Very interesting...

Johnny

There are numerous stations that broadcast music. A number of them just simulcast their sister fm stations. For example KKOW in Joplin, MO. But they are of course lower power. Clear channel music - only WSM 650 and CFZM 740.  And CFZM may simulcast. IMHO WSM is just a throwback to the golden era of am broadcast. Tight programming, live broadcast of the Opry, live broadcasts from music row late Saturday nights. AM radio still done right.
