Group Stats
Either the mesages are "off topic" for the group, such as advertising for something like shoes which should be blocked / handled by the group admins or it is relevent but just not to some / most members? Given how many member we have, it would be hard to see how any post would be relevent to the whole group.Frank,
I have taken on what you have said and will limit my postings and email members directly if I feel that is a better way to communicate with them.
I have never considered your messages to be Spam, but the mindset that somebody is helping the group by posting as many messages as possible is way off track, and is causing us to lose valuable members. It's true that we have a diversity of opinions in this group, but the people leaving the group are the ones marking the messages as Spam, and telling me that the most of the recent messages are of little or no value to them, and should be sent as private emails. They have a point. We welcome everybody to post, but please ensure that your posts are useful to more than one person, and that they are not made to "run up the score."
Gary
The classic definition of spam is unsolicited bulk messages, that is, messages sent to multiple recipients who did not ask for them.

I am sorry if I have missed the mark with this. I will keep it in mind for the future.Frank,
We welcome your contributions to this group, but when you are repeatedly discussing various matters with only one other individual, private emails should be considered. Group posts should be limited to content likely to be of interest to the entire group, otherwise we will continue to lose members who consider a lot of the recent posts to be "posting for the sake of posting."

I guess the reasons behind each group varies and some are very active, some less so.Frank, you seem to have missed the point.
The Ultralight radio group has been very active for over 13 years, regardless of the number of posts on the group list. Much more important than the number of posts is the quality and usefulness of the posts, and whether they are considered relevant and informative by the majority of members. Unfortunately, we have lost about 5 experienced members within the past month because they thought that most of the recent posts on our list were not useful, marking them as "Spam." Posting for the sake of posting is not helping this group, and those who equate this with group activity are in error.

It looks like 2016, 2017 and 2018 were not as active years, any reason why?
How do you track that over such a long period of time? Have you been on the group since the start?Sent: Monday, August 09, 2021 at 11:34 AM

It is great to see the group so active and have some new life breathed in to it.
