Allen:
The auroral conditions were subsiding by the time it was dark here last evening. I tried to listen but the northern stations, including 990 CBW, were returning. I noticed some of the TV/FM DXers were experiencing aurora scatter DX. Other than 1220 Radio Globo, I don't know what Brazilian stations to listen for. Here, that frequency is dominated by 100 kW XEB in México. Surely I will hear South America on an ULR at some point. Too bad they're not on the splits like when I heard them in the early 1970's. Best wishes for a happy Canada Day weekend and more good DX. Richard. Richard Allen, near Perry OK USA. |

Richard, I'd think that Brazil on 1100 would be a better bet for you? What ever you can get from WTAM should be gone in an AU and also nulled when you aim at Brazil. I don't think KRDY is that strong at your QTH is it? Cuba on 1100 can be a nuisance in AU cx, but I think they have enough issues in Cuba that this isn't always on. I don't think you'd have dominant Mexicans on 1100 although expect them to QRM.

Thank you for the information. KRDY isn't much of a problem here, but KNZZ might be. Despite its low power, KNZZ is aubible when I point the receiver toward Brazil. However a good signal from Radio Globo should be audible here. Good DX. Richard. --- In ultralightdx@..., neilkaz <neilkaz@...> wrote:
