Inductance Meter(s) to measure 7.5 Longwave Loopstick Inductance - Where to get?
jerry_popiel
I've been reading Gary DeBock's writeups on building that excellent 7.5 inch Ferrite Bar Loopstick. Now that my PL 380 is in shipping from China I am wondering what type of Inductance Meter can be used or purchased to measure and verify the required 1900 uh inductance of the 122 turns of 100/44 Litz wire once its wound on the 7.5 inch Ferrite Bar?
I have 2 older Volt-ohm meters but none of them measure Inductance. There are several Inductance / Capacitance Meters listed on ebay but the Ranges I would need are not too clear. Any replies would be much appreciated. Jerry |

I've mentioned a decent LCR meter I've used, before on this list. Not many ULR folks are interested in measuring inductance, however.

The Chinese DM4070 model LCR meter works well; I've compared it with other much higher quality LCR meters and can recommend it. This USA seller will get it to you quickly, and with free shipping. eBay item 380282218601 73, Steve ----- Original Message -----

Steve, after a detailed look I'm not so sure that the DM 4070 will measure down to 2000 uh? The posted ranges for inductance are: 200 uh, 2 mh, 20 mh, 200 mh, 2h, and 20h. Do you know if the DM 4070 will in fact measure down to 2000 uh which is the range we need to measure the Inductance of 122 turns of Litz wire on a 7.5 inch Ferrite Rod?Found the DM 4070 on ebay, but unfortunately it looks like it only ships toJerry - read his description page further down. Steve, got the DM 4070 today - it took about 2 weeks. Only small problem is those slippery alligator clips on the 2 Leads, its hard to clip them on anything as they seem to always slide off your fingers. Otherwise all is well. Thanks for your help & advice.
