I finally passed 800 stations

bbwrwy

Since logging 700 stations in 2009, it seems like I've been crawling on my hands and knees trying to reach 800. I finally did it tonight.

Station #800
1250 KBTC, Houston MO, @ 0313Z, with Tiger high school basketball game, only 51W.

Station #801
1250 KZHM, Paris TX, @0455Z, country music with "KZHN" ID, 95W.

Both heard with a SRF-T615. All but 14 were heard with a barefoot receiver, mostly on the 615. It is much kinder to my ears than my Tecsun receivers.

Good DX all.

Richard.

Good going Richard!  And congrats to Rob Ross for passing 900!

I've in a rut right now- no new stations in about the last two weeks.  I'm still stuck around 765.  It's been a lack of time that has been cutting into my DX but I hope to get back to it soon.

Wow, 'tis the season for milestones. Great job, Richard, and way to hang in there!

Like Rob and Frank, I see that you also primarily use the Sony T615, attesting to its prowess as a DX receiver.

Onward to 900!

Rob:

Thank you.

Yes, I like my amazing little SRF-T615. It's nearly the ultimate ultralight. The biggest advantage is its audio, so much kinder to my old ears than my Tecsun ULR's. And, I've yet to find another ULR that matches its nulling capability. Both paid off last night.

I don't think Kirk's storm will be as bad as last week's, more like our typical February weather.

Best wishes, it's only onward and upward.

Richard,

You know I've got to jump in here to send my heartiest congratulations! Wow, and to reach the 800 goal on 1250 makes it even better! Man that's one tough freq up here with lcl WBBZ on 1230...only 3 stations have been hrd on 1250 here. My hat is off to you and the T615! I hope they're still available by the time I have the spare bucks to get one myself. The one thing to remember, however, is that no matter how "hot" a radio might be, it's the DX'ers personal abilities at DXing that plays just as much a roll, if not more, in the logging of good DX. Way to go, Richard!!

John:

Thank you.

I'm familiar with that rut. I've been stuck in it a few times and found only persistence works for extraction.

Best wishes and good DX.

Kirk:

Thanks.

Even without WBBZ in my backyard, 1250 kHz is tough here. The biggest problem being Kansas City's KYYS heard 24/7.

Good DX.
