South Florida loggings
jim_kr1s <jkearman@...>
One advantage to switching focus to Florida stations is, I can sleep later! Last night and this morning's loggings with modified PL-380. Times in UTC.
With the exception of a cluster of stations around Orlando, most Florida stations are on a coast. Sunrise is a busy time! From here in South Florida, the bearings to stations on the same frequency don't vary much. Nulling a station in Tampa, on the Gulf Coast, to hear a station in Jacksonville, on the Atlantic coast, is tricky. Then there are all the other stations to the north, where sunrise is earlier, and of course my little friends in Cuba. Florida has about 220 AM stations. Only California and Texas have more stations on 1450. Unfortunately, I have one right here in Stuart, which knocks out the other five. Logging 150 Florida stations may be as hard as ridding the Everglades of pythons. (In case you're wondering how bad the python problem is, they are scaring the alligators so much, the gators are trying to break into houses to escape. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-390502/Darling-theres-alligator-door.html ) 73, Jim, KR1S http://kr1s.kearman.com/ |
