Hi all,
Almost ordered a Razr v3 charger for my PL-380 but Overstock.com quoted NZ$76.18 or US$54.11 for freight,. Seems a tad high for something costing less than NZ$7.00. Any suggestions (apart from the obvious) please. Have only heard KMIK 1580 so far but with the aid of a 12inch box loop. The new 'Sky TV' set top box is another matter and I feel like giving it the thumb and forefinger treatment but I'm not the only person in the household, hi hi. Dunno what's obvious, but if Blackberry phones are used in NZ, look for a charger for the later models. Surely an NZ dealer has them. They're also sold on eBay; maybe someone down there has them, or I've seen them coming from Hong Kong (aftermarket versions) that may be less expensive to ship. The Blackberry charger I use is model PSM04A-050RIMC, RIM part number ASY-12709-001 It's 100-240 Vac, 50-60 Hz, but has the USA ac plug. According to my research, it's compatible with these Blackberry models, and that should give you a starting point to find one with the right plug: 6210, 6220, 6230, 6280, 6510, 7100g, 7100i, 7100r, 7100t, 7100v, 7100x, 7105t, 7210, 7230, 7250, 7280, 7290, 7510, 7520, 7130e, 8100, 8120, 8130, 8310, 8320, 8700c, 8700f, 8700g, 8700r, 8700v, 8703c, 8703e, 8800, 8820, 8830 I've also seen ac-line and 12-Vdc chargers that replicate a USB port, which could be used with the Tecsun-supplied cable. I can work NZ/Australia reliably on the low ham bands at sunrise here on the East Coast, but Japan is easier at sunset on their end. So I'd try your sunset and our sunrise. Yes, I am looking at other chargers and suppliers so will see what eventuates. That price for freight really took the wind out of my sails. Regarding KMIK, my statement was in relation only to the PL-380. Over the years I have QSL'd 335 North American, 43 Central American and 39 South American Medium Wave stations mostly on Hammarlund and Sony equiptment.
