Milestone Reached

Gary DeBock

Hello Kirk,

Congratulations on reaching the 300 station milestone, all received on Ultralight radios.  I really admire anyone that can accomplish this feat, especially because I have never dared to try this myself (my west coast location leads me to believe that I would fail the Rob Ross Challenge).  Maybe a west coast Ultralight fanatic will reach 300 stations someday, but it will require someone with more patience than me.

Thanks also for giving the John Bryant Slider loopstick a good workout, and great work on your fantastic transoceanic and domestic receptions.

     73,  Gary .

Greetings Oh Great Radio Gurus,

I finally managed to reach the 300 ULR stations logged milestone (plus
2 more) overnight and this morning. Not an EZ night/morning here
though. I was whining to Robert Ross, of all people to whine to, about
how it was tough this morning to find anything new on the band. Oh boy.
here's some of the stations that helped complete the journey to 300.
These stations were logged on the Eton E-100 slider, and some with the
slider plus either the SAT or the Tecsun loop.

1380, KOTA, Rapid City, SD, 2324 UTC, 11/24. Lcl pgm'g, area weather
forecast and current wx conditions.

720, XEAVR, Alvorado, Veracruz, 0558, 11/25. Hrd w/ a VG sig in the
null of WGN Chicago. Full ID 0600 mentioning "La Formula Uno..." NA
played at 0601 UTC.

780, XEMF, Monclova, Coahuila, 0836-0930, 11/25. Took a while to get an
ID on this one for sure. Finally hrd a positive ID along with
their 'nickname' of "Radio Nostalgia." Great sig peak @ 0923.

1320, XECPN, Piedras Negras, Coahuila, 1124-1145, 11/25. M ancr with SP
yak and frequent TC's...almost every minute. Not positive, but I think
I heard the station referring to itself as "Radio Tiempo." VG signal at
its peak around 1135 UTC.

570, XEOA, Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca, 1157-1205, 11/25. Full echo ID at
tune in followed by a choral version of their NA. This one was also
referring to itself as, "Radio Mexicana..." ULR STATION #300.

870, KJMP, Pierce, CO, 1350, 11/25. Rough copy with interfering station
in SP. Lcl ads, especially for a few businesses in Ft. Collins (which
is one of my favorite places to visit. I love it out there.)

570, WNAX, Yankton, SD, 1408, 11/25. VG sig/copy from 1415-1420 UTC.
They gave the morning market report and references to locations in SD.
ID deduced by a promo which urged the listeners to log on to wnax.com
(ULR Station #302)
