Tecsun Pl-310ET vs Pl-380
Try the current Degen DE1105, a small radio that fits in the ultralight category in size, but has been ignored by all but those in the Yahoo Degen DE1105 group.

I need soldering help for loopstick/pl-380 mod
Did you try to dip the ends of the wire in rosin paste before attempting to tin it? The solder will flow on to it even with a 15 watt solder iron.

My First Impressions on CC Pocket AM/FM Weather Radio
The CC Pocket Radio seems to be more a clone of the Sangean DT400W than the Tecsun PL210. My Sangean bit the dust and I replaced it with a Degen DE1105 which does not have NOAA, tunes to 1KHz on the M

SW portable receivers good for emergency use?
Check the Degen DE208 as a candidate as it's smaller than those you mentioned, the 2AA last forever, has a sleep timer, Backlight and digital readout of the analog tuner. 19.95 on Amazon.
