Should this be soldered?
Looking at the diagram it does not appear that pad goes anywhere; if so then it doesn't matter if it's left unsoldered, and it wouldn't change anything if it were soldered. If the other side of the bo

Does anyone know what has happened to RadioBoard
RadioBoard is gone for past week or so; so far as I know no one who knows anything has said anything yet. Jim Kearman KR1S is the owner of RadioBoard; hopefully something bad didn't happen to him. 73,

Direct Connection between FSL and PL 360?
Are you asking if you can mechanically connect a FSL's inductor (removing connections to its variable capacitor first) to a 3.5mm plug to replace the stock ferrite rod antenna? Steve

TEST: sending a few small files as attachments
Looks to me they came through with no changes from what they were when I sent them--same size and perfectly clear. This is the way it should be! Steve

Let's see how these four files do, posting to this list; posting to IRCA list with them causes the files to become larger plus compressed resulting in them looking fuzzy. They're all loopamps I tested

electronic goldmine ferrite rods on sale
I bought some of these about 8 months ago and tested them on the Q meter. They have good Q and I believe would make a good FSL, given their short length. They go on sale like they are now every few mo

How best to inexpensively clean degraded variable caps?
Now we need to find the least expensive method of cleaning variable caps not requiring (very) expensive DeOxit spray cleaner. Would cheap drugstore isopropyl alcohol work well enough? Maybe used in a

FSL coil Q of 1162/46 and 660/46 Litz compared using HP4342A Q meter
I just checked with Mike at https://www.mikeselectronicparts.com/ and he says his current caps are the latest version "0219" so I just ordered one to try. Thanks for this info, Gary. 73, Steve

Oren Elliot latest "0219" series variable cap?
Hi Gary, Where are you obtaining the latest 0219 variable caps--from the manufacturer or from Mike's Electronics? This is certainly a very interesting finding. 73, Steve

FSL coil Q of 1162/46 and 660/46 Litz compared using HP4342A Q meter
I should add that my 140mm ferrite rods are Chinese rods, not Russian rods, and that the results may be different using Russian rods. I don't have enough Russian rods to do the experiment using them.

Hi Dean, I'm not sure what you're trying to do but in the Files, the opening page at the bottom is a .pdf called "matching transformers using binocular core". Maybe that will give you some ideas. http

7.5” Loopstick LW antenna not enough inductance?
I should add that my coil is wound with 175/46 Litz, perhaps a little smaller diameter than the specified 100/44 Litz. I've found it works even better at LF, in fact I've found all the types of /46 Li
