Herewith, a question I'm embarrassed to ask ...
Hi Peter, With a ferrite bar antenna, the strongest signals are perpendicular to the bar, and the nulls are parallel to the bar. Regards, Gary

ferrite antennas
Plus, with the Twin Coil you can move the antenna independently from the radio, which adds to its convenience.

Not an ultralight, but interesting - Tecsun R208
Hello all, The Tecsun R-308 is a nice radio too. It's also analog, runs on three D-cell batteries, and has decent AM sensitivity (better than any of my ultralights -- I think it has a 5" ferrite bar)

Hi Jerry, The C. Crane CC Witness has multiple start/stop timers, built in AM and FM tuners, and a line input for recording from other radios. http://www.ccrane.com/radios/am-fm-radios/cc-witness.aspx

Filter width on DSP radios
Hello all, I noticed that on my PL-380, I can detune up to one filter width and still get good sound quality. For example, if I'm listening to 1070 kHz with the 2 kHz filter, I can tune as low as 1068

Radio with recorder????
The radio in the CC Witness is not that sensitive or selective. It's not in the same class with a DT-400W, for example. It's OK for recording strong locals, but even in this case its reception improve

The C. Crane CC Witness is similar to the earlier Pogo MP3 recorders: http://www.ccrane.com/radios/am-fm-radios/cc-witness.aspx Like the Pogo, it has built-in AM and FM tuners, and can do timer record

Hi Kevin, Another excellent article! How did you get your Q-Stick antenna apart? The external antenna jack on mine came loose, and is rattling around inside the case. Regards, Gary

Bit OT: Why nulls improve with tilting?
Hi Kevin, I've long wondered about this. Thanks for the explanation. So, if I'm understanding you correctly, the tilting of the Quantum Loop antennas can be used for nulling, but not for peaking, sinc

Spotter Radio and Some Local Stations - additional info
How much do these cost, Neil? I couldn't find the price on Winradio's web site. It looks like the Excalibur can record the entire MW spectrum at once (2 MHz width). Pretty cool.

Hello all, I still have one and still use it. It's called a Radio West Loop. It has a 22" ferrite bar, and has more gain than my Quantum QX Pro Loop (15" ferrite bar), but the Quantum has better nulls
