Anybody have spare Litz for my projects?
I have my 7.5" rods on order. Before I go to eBay and order more than I need, does anybody have any lengths of the following types of Litz they'd be willing to sell? 100/44, 30', for the Tecsun PL-380

Since the response to my query was less than overwhelming, I have come across at least one source of smaller quantities of Litz wire. If you are just getting started building your own loopsticks like

PL-380 screen noise?

PL-380 screen noise?
Ah very interesting! Mine is an Amazon purchased model. S/N is: 36920130400299 (inside battery compartment). Solder quality on this one is less than impressive but I didn't see anything worth re-flowi

I think it's a very useful and topical thread. It's hard enough fighting noise in the low bands without having to DX a radio's own screen! Interesting thought concerning the manufacturer. They may wel

Matching transformer for PL-380
I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are doing but be VERY careful if you are connecting an external signal directly to the solder pads where the loop wires go. Go to Silicone Labs website and d

Matching transformer for PL-380
There is no external antenna input on the PL-380. The DSP chip needs an inductor for AM/LW and a whip/wire for SW. The details are in the documentation at Silicone Labs website. ---In ultralightdx@yah

True that, that's what I did so I could swap out AM/LW loopsticks. I'm just not sure that folks realize that this is not your ordinary radio front end. With signals going directly into a chip, you hav

Thanks for the video. It really helps illustrate why the cliff is such a good place for DX! Can't wait to get there someday!

I posted some pictures under loopstick antenna project. All parts I had on hand or are from eBay. The variable capacitor is really nice and currently available from a UK seller. It has gear reduction

A little question...
"Why hasn't anyone done even a breadboard for a simple inductively tuned AM radio? Not a bit of digital hash, no PLL issues, etc." There's something about the words "simple","breadboard", "ultralight"
