ferrite vs sensitivity
Also, I'm still curious as to if, given optimum winding, if we are approaching the limiting case of sensitivity with a 6.375" ferrite (i.e., with optimum winding, would we expect much more sensitivity

ferrite vs sensitivity
The sensitivity of my ICF-S5W and ICF-EX5 with their 6.375" bars is the equal of my PR-D5 with it's 8" bar. If constructed properly, should there be an expectation of greater daytime sensitivity with

What are your memorable DX moments?
I had a 6 transistor radio when I was a kid...I would use the radiator in my room as an antenna. My biggest thrill was while in the 5th grade (1965). My qth was Westport, CT. After getting Pittsburgh,

Problem with Tecsun PL-380?
That happens on my 310...I was always hoping that this was the softmute shutting off, but it is just what you say...an increase in volume while the buttons are pressed in a solid manner.

Is it possible for a novice to properly shield the circuitry? If so, would the sensitivity be degraded? Glad to see a explanation for what I observed...We have locals on 1550 and 1370...I was pretty s

PL-390 External LW MW Antenna Mod
I find that the sw sensitivity of the 390 is identical to a 310 that I had put an antenna equal in length to the 390. The 390 is more listenable, however, as weak signals are less choppy with the 390'

The SI4730 AM/FM DSP Chip
Hi Scott, Do the DSP chips lend themselves to ssb or sync capabilities in an economical and portable package? I'm wondering if waiting a year might allow some of those capabilities to begin to appear

New "Ultra-Heavy" Radio :)
Given that Universal Radio descibed the 450DLX as analog (yet the closeup picture of it's keys says PLL synthesized), I wonder if it is indeed dual conversion! Still sounds very much like the RP2100..

My experience is that the newer G3's are MUCH better with sync; they hold lock on very weak signals (try out some new samples that show up at Radio Shack). Another alternative that works is using ssb

SSB decoding in SDRs and as procedure (algorithm) in the digital software
Jim... The G3, like the 7600 GR, has a clarifier wheel for the BFO...continuous adjustment as opposed to incremental. It does remain stable. ECSS tuning works, and is a good backup when lower sideband
