It does look to be a typo on the reported dimensions.. Degen shows 125x76x28 mm not *176*. That would be be the size of a DR-920/DE-212/R-911/WRX911. Plenty of room and lack of shielding for internal birdies :P

Like Dennis, I was chasing audio from Mongolia on Longwave this
morning, and had threshold audio on both 164 and 209 kHz using a new
Longwave FSL antenna. Unfortunately both signals were too weak to check
against each other, or the SW parallel on 4830 kHz. 189-Radio Rossii in
Belogorsk was the strongest of the 5 Rossii TP's this morning, a very
rare situation. Medium wave TP-DX signals were fairly average,
except for an extremely potent signal from 1566-HLAZ at 1322 which maxed
out the PL-380's S/N display at 25. This was the strongest signal from
HLAZ ever received here (over a 5 year period).

Hi Stephen,

With the PL-390, is it showing Ni-Mh below the battery power level indicator, if not then it needs to be switched so it displays as this setting tells the radio it is using rechargable batterys.

Pressing the "M" button toggles between single use batterys and Ni-Mh (rechargeable) batterys

ultralight radio and of course there is a defined volume as per the group rules.
Has any of the wideband 0-XXX Mhz handheld receivers by Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom etc
been used / considered in the past ?????

Haven't seen this one before, but it looks very similar to the Tecsun DR-920, which has analog tuning/digital frequency readout. I'm guessing they have similar performance. My 920 has some internally-generated noise, which makes it less than optimal for DXing, but it is fairly sensitive and selective on MW and SW, and a good radio for the price.
