Thanks Jock. While this group (and the Ultralight dxing hobby overall) is focused on the mediumwave band, we have a whole heap of spectrum to listen to.On Thu, 24 Feb 2022, 8:51 pm Jock Elliott, <jock.elliott@...> wrote:Paul,Thanks for that blog. Hi Jock
I love your reference to exploring the unknown, the trouble is, when you’ve found what you’re looking for, you don’t know what it is! I have an old Panasonic RF-B11 which pulls in stations like crazy on medium wave, but because I don’t know their precise frequency I can’t find what they are, I’m sure this probably rings a lot of bells with some members.

Jock ...
Thank you!
My DX'ing started with a one tube, regenerative, back in the '50s. Had two coils -- one for the AM broadcast band, the other for shortwave. Listened to all the Cold War rhetoric from all the countries on this side of and behind the Iron Curtain; as well as, all the AM power houses in the US and Mexico.

John,
I like your idea; analogue adds to the feeling of "exploring the unknown."

Well done, I personally think you’re going to be very happy with this little gem! I haven’t tried the aftermarket antennas, but if you type in ‘ferrite antenna Tecsun’ into eBay you’ll find the ones that I think are made in Greece. As my main interest is in shortwave (at the moment) I’ve not felt the need. I know I keep repeating it, but it’s the clarity of this set that makes it a winner for me, in addition to it’s shortwave powers. I got an old Roberts R-861 (rebranded Sangean 909) yesterday, and in poor conditions with a weak station the 368 was better; given the reputation of that set I think it speaks volumes. Enjoy!

Today I (hopefully) take ownership of my new Tecsun PL-368.
I'm excited to try out this little radio and its unique form factor. I may have to consult some of you other PL-368 owners for "expert tips" after I have used it for awhile.
Hopefully it is a "keeper"! :)
Question: Anyone tried the aftermarket larger AM Ferrite Antennas for this radio? I'm going to look for them on EBay, unless they are somewhere else?

Wanted to share my latest "most interesting catch of 2022".
Radio Used: My tiny Eton Elite Mini
Last night I grabbed WIRV AM 1550 in Irvine, Kentucky.
This is only about 300 miles from my house, but what makes it cool to me is that their nighttime power is ONLY 5 watts!
Pretty Neato! :)

Well I think your assessment tallies with mine, just one question did yours come in a box with instructions?
And yes Paul it’s not worth the asking price, for roughly half that price you can get a PL-368 and be a lot happier!
