Re: What is your personal challenge for 2022?

Zacharias Liangas

For MW /SW ( I m mostly a SW listener )

Try to listen to some hard to listen stations as possible . in some cases to check via remote SDRs for interesting stations in Europe or in the SEA which is my main music  interest.

My holy grail for MW  is listening to Lyca Radio on 1458 , In my area in Thessaloniki the signal is very low ,even if checked  with the Tescun mini loop. It is too bad parts of the remain country can receive it much better

Listening to Greek pirate radio stations on MW is ranked 3-4th but  the funniest of all is a ‘friends’  CQUAM  transmission much with better than FM audio! after listening to him i immediately sent him a report via FC messenger. FYI Grece has more than 500 MW radio pirates>locally ther are around 55  in the N Grece

There is some times the interest in listening with my basketenna a 55x35 cm a former veggie plastic frame that was used 10 yeas ago and then left it  for further enhancements esp fpr LW tripling by the wire length

Semi-pirate or pirate  radio from Europe on SW is a different question The last two years is my only source of QSLs

For FM – using Tecsun PLradios is as like DXing .  its bandwidth is very narrow

The aim is only one: to update the FM listing in both areas  : Thessaloniki and Mount Olymp There are standard cases to listen several to stations from the Skopje borders (we call this way you call N Macedonia) and also Blagoevgrad Bulgaria.

I don't think we have but I don't see any reason why we could not consider running something like that.
As we have members across the world, it would need to consider them and work in such a way that everybody can participate on a level footing.

Maybe something based on a percentage of stations logged or logging a station from as far away as you can?

I agree with Paul, the V-115 (which is what initially sparked my interest) would just be a waste of money.

I have had a few poor radios. My V-115 was really bad and I found it very hard to get it to perform as well as I would like and expect.
I would recommend asking on here before buying anything.

Hi Johnny
You and I seem similar in one respect then, I get a hell of a kick out of stuff that I bought cheaply which turns out to be good! Particularly if something is just dirty and need a clean; I love it, and it’s the only part of perfectionism that stays with me after all my years.

You might also really like this Broadcast Industry Site. It's not technically-oriented like Radio World but has lots of industry news:

My Digitech AR-1733 has the air band and it is something that I do listen to, mostly at night time if the medium wave band is not that interesting or if I want to do some less intense listening.

I used to be involved in the radio scanning hobby so have some experience in that area.

Hi again David and all
I’ve just found that there are a few videos on YouTube about this beastie that have answered all my original questions, certainly worth a look. It would appear there’s no noise reduction on this as there is on the ATS25, although this may be firmware. At this moment I’m more and more interested in this receiver. If anyone understands what this vid is about, please tell:

And this one answers a lot of questions:

Hi David
Does this mean you actually own one of these? If so, how do you change screens? Is there NR on it?  Many more questions, but it certainly looks like this will be the way forward; Mmm 🤔

Would that be classed as an ultralight? It sounds awesome.

Try the Facebook group “Canadian Radio News”, which has a lot of the CRTC goings-on with regard to broadcast licenses, technical amendments, and such. (https://www.facebook.com/rwcrn)

What is your personal challenge for 2022?

Johnny

Hi all,

What is/are your personal DX'ing challenge(s) for 2022?

Is it to...
1)  Hear all states/provinces/etc in your country?
2)  Hear the most stations you can?
3)  Just spin the dials a bit?
4)  Other?

I'll go first...

AM challenges
1)  To hear the most "Clear Channel" stations in the US that I can
2)  To hear all continental states in the US (sorry Hawaii and Alaska!)

FM challenges:
1)  To hear as many Michigan-only stations as I can
2)  To hear as many LPFM and Translators in Michigan as I can

Let's hear yours!

Johnny
