A thought occurred to me that Farmeric would have to adjust the set more E-W... definately WNW to ESE from his location to mimic my conditions.

Thanks for the info on WCAP, by adjusting the set during the Original listening period (1640-1740 EDT) I did find oldies when directed NE/SW after 1700 EDT (not logged until confirmed).

I can rule out WSUB, and quite possibly the Baltimore game Farmeric heard was on WTEM from DC. Best I can do so far.

I tried the PL-600 and the PL-310, and the 600 has less backround noise. Both agree the signal is just west of due south, or just east of due north, from here in Northeast CT. Groton CT would be a bit east of due south, not west.
As I was listening, a stronger 60's oldies station covered the sports coverage, but it still fades in sometimes. Both signals are on the same axis, but of course could be 180 degrees apart. - FARMERIK

More on 720 kHz signals from Carib.

ferrite61 <dxrx@...>

I figured this one out as CUBA after hearing reports and news tonite at 1745 to 1815 EDT. It faded into the mire of pre-WGN. But I must say, it was rated only fair at best with a high noise floor. The previous RX here was very good with strong signal. But thats Cuba these days.

Note: this signal from Cuba like may others in the log, are determined to fade out just a mile or two north of my location. The car radio and various PL-200/310 tests verify. FTR: my location is on a small hill 90 meters (280-290 feet) above sea-level about 12 mi due north of New Haven Harbor. The surrounding topology is at roughly 50-60 MASL (160 to 200 FASL).

Might a Washington DC station carry that game? Baltimore isn't terribly far from DC. I didn't see any other likely candidates at Radio Locater. - FARMERIK

After a few days chasing FM tropo (and bagging 15 new stations), it's back to the ultralights and I've managed to add two new stations to the UL log:

920  WURA, Quantico VA, 4/9 at 2035, tejano music

1260  WHYM, Lake City SC, 4/10 at 0730, call ID, Fox Sports Radio, announced a FM parallel, probably 93.7

Now at 692 ultralight stations.

Hi Guys:

I am hearing this in London, ONTARIO as well....mixing with WWJ Detroit!! It seemed to be best with an EAST/WEST Orientation....not from the South???

Id sounds like La Epa as Saul says or "LA EP-EH". Mexican Regional Regional Music and Vocals in Spanish. Accordion Music and Lots of Jingles. Also Space Sounds/Lasers Effects during Jingles???

Not sure what this is....hopefully we can ID it whether it's Mexico or in the USA. I've heard WCTN in Potomoc, MARYLAND in SPANISH lots of times at SUNSET...but not IDing like this......but it MAY be them!!

We'll see if they are heard by anyone else...or maybe a Better ID on the hour??

Thanks for the tip Saul........

Gary,

There's a R. Exitos (XEORF) on 950, but 5000/500 W. Also XECAA, "La 950" (La nueve-cincuenta) that might be it, but they're 1000 W d/n.

WCTN in Potomac, MD (La Cabrena - La Super Estacion) is another possibility. They're 2500/47 W, but you know how that goes.

Just one new one for me tonight, my listening time is a bit limited, getting ready for a road trip tomorrow.  I snagged WNQM, 1300, Nashville, TN at 7:15 tonight here in Indy.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!  I'm off to play some music this weekend...probably won't have much time to DX.

Carl,

WRTH says CMHA. They're all in Camaguey province. Freqs are

910    25 kW (shared freq during day)
1360     1 kW
1370     1 kW
1380    10 kW
1410    1 kW
1460    1 kW
1580    1 kW

Rob,

Congrats on the new ones. I'm glad to see others are absorbing some of
that Cuban rf! WRTH 2010 says all stations in each major network are
using the same call now.

Enciclopedia: CMHA
Progreso: CMBC
Rebelde: CMBA
Reloj: CMBD
R26: CMDL
Sancti Spiritus: CMGL

Then again, Ciudad del Mar 1340/1350 IDs as CMCM, but WRTH says
something else. Unless I can get a clear ID I've been using the WRTH
calls.

There are more-powerful Progreso stations on 640 and 660 (30 and 50 kW;
690 is 20 kW), so maybe you can knock off a few more!
