My own audio recorder (which comes with MP3 conversion software) is the
Sony ICD-SX57, a very compact model which can record about 3 hours of
high quality stereo (if desired) in its flash

I meant to mention one more thing: regarding SDR on other devices, like Android, Webos, QNX, Symbian, etc.
The main thing preventing SDR on those devices is the lack of stereo microphone input. Note:

By purchasing a used or refurbished iPod touch, and building the RF front-end yourself, you MIGHT be able to set yourself up with an SDR receiver using iSDR for under $100. You can also get an iPhone

but in the UK we use "Audacity", which is
freeware and, with an additonal easily downloaded
dll file, allows you to record onto the computer in mp3
format,

I think these are two-gang capacitors with one being between ANT and the center connection and the other from OSC to the center connection. The ANT one is the larger capacitance of the two.
