Oklahoma TP DX 10/17/10
With declining solar activity I expected to hear signals from Asia this morning, but none were audible. The only signals heard were weak carriers from the west-southwest on 558, 702 and 891 kHz.

New acquisition, a Sony WM-FX101 Walkman
I stopped by a thrift store on the way home from the dentist the other day. Generally they don't have a lot of radios there anymore, but this time I saw a Sony Walkman, WM-FX101 -- for just 99 cents.

That looks like a really good idea for battery carrying. I have been luck that I have not had any problems like that, yet :)

Re: New Radio Case with Belt
Sounds like a nice setup, though I'd need a good sized trunk to accommodate all my small radios in individual protective cases.
I did just run across something kind of interesting as far as batteries

It seems somebody from Russia has found my posts on the new AR-1733 DSP radio interesting and has posted them on this website including some photos I took of my new radio on the weekend. Amazing how

I recently bought a sling-style camera bag. If you're looking for something easily portable that type of case would be a decent choice, though probably on the very high end of what most people would

Not to be at all critical of your choice -- for $15 that's a great deal -- but with ultralights I'd think something designed for camera gear would probably make a good radio case. They tend to have

Re: New Radio - Digitech AR-1733
Well the 660 does not have DSP, air band squelch and the case / operating style is quite different.
The AR-1733 does not have SSB.

Conditions seemed to be semi-auroral at this QTH. Last night I heard XERF-1570 in a lot more stronger than usual, but also heard some Canadian stations, some of which aren't usually so audible,

Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-16
Hello All,
It was nice to finally have a couple of Asiatic TP's back at decent levels this morning after the long aurora-induced shutdown-- even if they were only the Korean big guns on 972 and 1053.

It was a poor morning for hearing signals from across the Pacific. Only weak hets heard on 702 and 738 kHz. Receiver: PL-310 with seven-inch FSL antenna.
