I must admit luck plays large in hearing DX. However, I feel experience tends to even things out some. It also helps to involve yourself in the DX community.
Good DX everyone.

Re: Amount of Time Spent Dxing = What you hear!!!
Luck definitely has a lot to do with it and now that I am retired I am having a lot more luck! Around 5 PM EST on 1470 WLMC Georgetown SC was way on top with only 1kw LoL, I don't know how that works

Re: Amount of Time Spent Dxing = What you hear!!!
So true! The other night I was thumbing through the dial and hit 1120 AM. I actually wanted to begin listening to a local station at 1140, but stopped because I was hearing oldies music. Interestingly

I also spend a lot of my DXing time on one or two channels and monitoring them, especially if there's an UNID I want to ID. I've spent hours monitoring one or two channels trying to nail UNID

Well, there is that little thing called "the law of diminishing returns". It seems to begin just after logging #200.

Hmmm... Its like my R-911 is on nearly constantly allowing FM/AM radio on demand. Bizness news, General News, Music, etc. I have to put up with indoor electrical noises from computer, microwave,

Re: Amount of Time Spent Dxing = What you hear!!!
In my view it's more like 90 percent luck and 10 percent effort.
As far as time spent listening, I agree that the more you listen, the more you'll log. I usually spend over an hour DXing, sometimes

Re: Question for the group - antennas
While a fine little receiver, the PL-360 has a fix bandwidth of only 3 kHz, not the narrower ones you desire. In that regard a better choice may be the PL-606 with bandwidths of 1, 2, 3, and 6

Yes Allen......I have always said that Dxing Success is 90 % Luck....and the other 10 % is Luck!!! Being in the right place at the right time most times outweighs any planning we can do to hear DX!!

Re: Question for the group - antennas
I chose the PL-360 because the ferrite rod is external, and easy to wrap pick up coils over. You can plug in other ferrite antennas also, without going inside the radio. So you might look at that
