Had a few good spurts of 2NC 1233, a few VERY good spurts of 1116 4BH, a real good

Hi CSA,
I would call that an excellent reception! You are in the null of their pattern to the northwest.

Re: Question: Good reception or just average?
Hi CSA,
As Paul says, I don't know your local conditions, but I can say (I am the proud owner of one of this) that the HDR-14 is a very capable receiver and enough sensitive to catch a MW signal 700

Re: Question: Good reception or just average?
I do. But the station points it’s antenna SE at night. Basically the opposite direction of where I’m located. That, along with being only 5,000 watts seems like it would be difficult to capture

Re: Question: Good reception or just average?
That is 725km. Without knowing the station and your local conditions/ band behaviour, I personally can't say. Do you normally hear stations out to that distance?

Question: Good reception or just average?
Quick question from the new guy: using a Sangean HDR-14, I heard WHP 580 tonight from metro Detroit. Looks like roughly 450 miles give or take. I believe it’s 5,000 watts. Good catch or just so so?

Knowing Your Dial Helps With Logs
2RN 1512 and 2NC 1233 (10kw Non Directional) Newcastle, NSW heard this morning slightly after 1600UTC in Alaska. Heard them both last winter and 2NC even interviewed me on air. Was tuned to 1548 4QD

I did have one of mine break off, but that was after it was dropped inside it's carry case.

Re: "Supercharging the XHDATA D-808" construction suggestion
Thanks for your suggestion, Zack.
This is certainly a judgement call, because the tricky part is deciding how much sanding is too much, and the orange plastic carpenter's level surface isn't perfectly
