Anyone has Degen DE321 / Kaito KA321?
I have two of them, but my first DE321 cannot receive MW under 558kHz, while the second one can receive down to 531kHz, though the second one has a defect in dial indicator.
How about your

Re: SW portable receivers good for emergency use?
Check the Degen DE208 as a candidate as it's smaller than those you mentioned, the 2AA last forever, has a sleep timer, Backlight and digital readout of the analog tuner. 19.95 on Amazon.

Andy, if you are considering the worst-case scenario, the effect of
a man-made or solar-generated EMP should also be considered. Only
a tube radio would be immune - but you would have difficulty

SW portable receivers good for emergency use?
I'm planning to order a SW portable set kept for emergency use (among ordinary receivers) OTHER THAN receivers with dynamos; I will also several sets of fresh dry batteries.

Re: PL-380 screen noise?
Thanks Andy (and Rick),
Tracking the serial numbers of new PL-380's with additional digital noise is a good suggestion.
It seems like no PL-380's with this issue started showing up until early

I had one for two weeks with intentions of giving it to a buddy, which I did. I found it easier to tune than my Kaito KA321, but with less sensitivity - note that the specs for it show it to be less

Hi Rick,
Very few of these "supercharged" 7.5" Longwave loopstick PL-380's have been built, so there may not be enough DXers owning them to give you some valid answers, or suggestions. Most of these

Tim,
I have the DE1126, which appears very similar to yours but adds an mp3 recorder. Mine works well on FM; MW is ok; SW is pathetic. Maybe I got a defective one, or maybe the mp3 recorder interferes

Hello All,
What sounded like a very promising band around 1310 hit the skids here around 1330, with Asian propagation seeming to take a swoon just before the usual peak sunrise enhancement time.
