Depending which way I turned the Terk loop antenna, I could hear WXKS on the whole time I heard the other station. Turns out it was WMIR in Atlantic Beach, SC, transmitting 11 watts 630 miles

Maybe WXKS went off the air for awhile when you were listening, allowing you to hear something else. There were murmuring stations under Bloomberg here. I was probably too late to catch the opening.-

I got the KA268 out and did a few things with it last night. FM seems OK, and the audio is very good with nice definition in the highs in music. I hope mine is just defective.
On AM I used the C Crane

On the multi coil configurations spacing between the coils is important, minimum spacing should be 2", more if possible. Also try to space them evenly, including from the ends.
