I agree with you. Any metal needs to be separated from the loop by 3-4 or preferably 6 feet - so minimum 1 metre, best 2.

a friend of mine is thinking of putting up an array of terminated loops but is thinking of putting them up on metal supports. My own rule of thumb has always been to use no conductive supports

To deal with strong locals, one thing to try with your SAT is to vary its position relative to the radio. In general, the radio should be a couple inches at least away from the antenna,

Conditions early this eve here on the Gulf were pretty darn good for a while. I received some unexpected visitors (new stations) on the same freq that lcl Disney station 1590 KMIC (Houston) is on.
