Re: UNID on 980kHz
I hear the programming in bits and pieces at sunset noID, and not in the ULDX logs after 5 years! and I'm maybe 40 mi air distance.

Re: WWVA 1170kHz Off-Air
Unfortuneately, I have to wait for the TV set (old style CRT) to extinguish before attempting weak-signal here. 30 feet away and the noise loads up the upper band :( I tried with the 1-transistor set

You have done well to get VT and Maine. Even though I am closer, they are very difficult to get more than one station each for me in the opposite corner of CT. There is a Sports Station on 990 in

Re: WWVA 1170kHz Off-Air
I just read the article and then went to listen to 1170. I was surprised to hear them back on the air so soon. Good for them.
Signal isn't too bad up here either.

UNID on 980kHz
Was listening earlier tonite at sunset 19:57 to 20:00 EDT (2400UT) and while listening for WSUB Groton, CT heard a call in the mix for WIOK.
A look-up indicates WIOK is an FM station on 107.5FM. They

So far I haven't figured how to null much with the diamond weave coils, as they pick up radially off the rim, instead of off the ends of the coil. How can you tilt the edge of a circle? I haven't tried

WWVA has come back up today with 5000 watts running into what is left of one of their towers, plus some guy wires.

WWVA 1170kHz Off-Air
This just in from DXLD groups, and reprinted here for DXing enthusiasts. Heres a chance for KVOO and/or your sunrise/sunset logs.
I will be attempting KVOO with the PL's tonite after 10PM EDT.

Yes, that's the reference, alright. You are right about the swamping or overwhelming effect of a large loop. Another problem with strong coupling of tuned loops is that

Welcome! I'm glad you checked in, and know a thing or two about loops to
boot :-) On Terman, do you mean the Radio Engineer's Handbook?
What you say makes sense - my 7600GR works well

Re: Diamond weave coil anteena, first reports-FARMERIK
Thanks Tony - I indeed tried everything, including putting the Q Stick in
the PL-390's end fire (so-called "adjacent orientation"), and there is at
best a slight boost to the PL-390's sensitivity.
