Grundig G8 for $25 at National Geographic site
Here's the link.
I paid $50 for mine and I like it.
For $25 it's a good deal.

Granted my initial comparison was very "unprofessional and non-technical" just going by what I heard. Still a good deal for the money, I think.

Looks to be more in the league of the Sony ICF-S10. Both have speaker and telescopic antenna which the SRF-59 does not; further, the SRF-59 is based on Sony's custom CXA1129N (receiveron a chip) which

Hi Farmerik,
Not much chance of an article with pictures from me, but Jim Kearman's webpage has a good article about the MW version, maybe some info on the LW version too.

Radio Shack AM/FM Catalog
#12-586
For those that might be interested, just picked subject radio up at Radio Shack for $14. Initial comparison with my SRF-59 looks like it's very close in performance. Another inexpensive toy to play

Re: grundig
I don't wish to sound negative but I already sit on a G8. That has problems and ? (maybe they still have something to switch it with ?)
If any place (this Yahoo Group) where somebody might open these

Tecsun PL360 and a Gary 7.5 inch loop stick for sale
The 7.5 inch ferrite loop does a great job. However I have discovered that, with the arthritis in my hands I just can hold and turn and angle the radio like I need to get to get top-notch performance
