My conditions are out of the box unmodified no speakers or headphones.
One radio gets 100 hours the other 36. Why?

Point is, battery life is also, as Gary noted, variable with volume, and variable with speakers vs headphones. Speakers use much more than headphones, headphones more than earbuds, and higher volume

I think if Gary was willing to just check the life with batteries on hand, that would be sufficient. I'm not really asking for rocket science. Just plug in your alkalines and see what ya get. Brands
