Re: More Radio Articles and Designs
Phil,
What I meant to say is that the S/N meter doesn't work when offset tuned. The RSSI meter still works in this case.
I tried using offset tuning with my PL-380 last night on SW. For me, the best

thanks Gary. guessing: the signal meter may look in a specific region for the carrier amplitude. that's how my FFT-based program, PhilSCAN, worked.

Thanks, Phil.
I especially enjoyed your article "Si4734 Offset Tuning." I'm going to give these techniques a try on my PL-380. It's too bad the signal meter isn't functional when doing offset

Ferrite loop antenna
Has anyone got any further with testing the ferrite loop antenna? I have just rediscovered the original article and wondered if it was worth building.

Comparing Quality of Radios
I was hoping to get opinions about two radios. I just bought a Grundig G4000A AM/FM/SW Radio - http://amzn.to/jPWQrK for $70. I read many reviews and it seemed to be the best radio in my price range

I Needed Another Radio Like a Hole in the Head...
They say that we preachers collect Bibles (I have probably 30 of them)
and DXers collect radios. UL DXers collect UL radios...
For Father's Day, I bought myself a Grundig G-8 at Radio Shack.

Re: Audiophile modifications for DSP Ultralights?
I use efficient speakers on my DSP radios. Most will drive one [old] Avery Fisher book shelf speaker across the R+L channels for mono. The CR-1100 will drive a pair of them for stereo, or an 8 inch

Many of these little radios are intended to be usedwith relatively high impedance headphones (60 Ohm or so)
Reduced bass can occur with low-Z phones due to the relatively small
