Re: A Radio Rodeo
John,
Your shootouts are always informative and interesting. Do the totals for the Insignia pocket radios include HD sub-channels, or just the main stations?
Haven't had much luck with FM Dx here in

Re: Gary's PL-360 antenna arrives! - FARMERIK
Doh! Adding power for uncorrelated sidebands should be a factor of 3dB, not 6. So much for that theory... Perhaps the specification has been somewhat revised relative to the document I Googled.

Paul,
I got the -25dB number from an iBiquity document (the inventors and promotors of IBOC). Since the two sidebands are uncorrelated, the total power in both sidebands would add up to -19dB (-25 +

From what I have read on the internet, iBOC is usually transmitted at -19db relative. Thus a 50kW atation broadcast iBOC at about 630 Watts. Due to the nature of the signal, it interferes directly on

I don't know about the salt water but tropo seems to like water paths here in the Mid-Atlantic. My usual tropo is to Southern New England and the Outer Banks, both generally over salt water paths.

I wonder if salt water helps FM signals travel farther, as well, like it does for AM. I happen to live behind a hill, but if I at least go on the roof of my house, or go to the top of the hill, I can
