Hi Richard
Thank you for your kind comments.
BTW, regarding Australia, November to January are generally the "dry" months with virtually no DU reception at Fish Hoek during that time.

Thanks - I do like the SRF-59 but after using the Tecsun R-911 for
about the same price, I think the funds would be better spent in
getting a spare Tecsun. They're close enough in cost that

Re: SRF-59 and heterodynes
If someone really likes the SRF-59 (like I do), I'd recommend buying a couple more as backups. SonyStyle online always seems to have refurbs available for $10. I bought two of these. One was a dog,

Congratulation Gary.
Watching your reports from South Africa tells me maybe I need to go on holiday there. As they say in the oil industry, it seems like I've hit a "dry hole" the past few weeks.

Re: SRF-M37 oddity
my SRF37W does the exact same thing. i suspect it is the wide open, poor filtering we all know about and that you are just hearing the strongest weather channel. mine receives the same local broadcast

SRF-M37 oddity
I've noticed an odd thing on my M37 and wonder if anyone else has seen this. On the weather band the radio sometimes acts as though it's searching for the strongest signal among the weather

What is the difference (besides color) between the ICF-S10 Mk2 and the original black ICF-S10?

Re: sony srf-m37 vs Srf-59
I wouldn't recommend the M37 for an urban area. The filter is VERY wide, almost to the point of non-existence. The more powerful stations in the Chicago area (I'm about 40 miles away) consume 50kHz

I thought I would pass on what I found to be an amusing way to describe
this radio, which as many of us know is a good receiver but with stock
selectivity so wide it could probably sleep six
