LW Sony ICF-M780SL 27th August 2022
This is a DSP radio that actually works well on LW.
NB It tunes in 9kHz steps on LW so not recommended for NDB hobbyists.
(MW can be set to 9 or 10kHz steps, SW

Re: 1280 Canada CFMB 4954km Sony SW7600GR with Tecsun AN-200 loop
Sorry to be a pain here Peter, but is there a reason why the output socket is stereo if only ring and sleeve are used please? I'm having difficulty getting my head around this apparently simple thing

Lol. I looked at the link and saw that you said "4945 km" and I
thought, buddy, Delaware is NOT ~5000 km from Montreal.
And it's not - because you are not Peter, the MW DXer from Delaware,
but

Re: 1280 Canada CFMB 4954km Sony SW7600GR with Tecsun AN-200 loop
The output socket on the AN-200 (& AN-100) is a stereo socket, but the ring is not used, just the tip and screen are used. A mono cable would give poorer performance.

1280 Canada CFMB 4954km Sony SW7600GR with Tecsun AN-200 loop
The Tecsun AN-200 tuned loop's output socket was connected to the Sony ICF-SW7600GR portable radio's antenna socket by using a stereo audio cable.
The heterodyne whistle was caused by 1278 Bradford
