I love the R75 but my real love was an R8500, sadly it suffered some damage and while it was fixed, it was never really the same.

Did you sell your R75 or did it fail? Mine is starting to show some issues, at times it won't turn on or fails to receive anything. I think I have got a good run out of it but maybe it is time for it

Re: Introduction
Thank you, the PL330 sounds like it might be a winner. I hope to build my collection as I get more involved in the hobby but for the moment I am starting out basic and will expand on that.

Sorry I missed your reply, I was on the road. Yea, it’s fun to play with radio.
Richard Feynman started his Nobel winning physics career as a kid fixing neighbors’ tube radios in New York City.

Much the same issue here, 000 services all going encrypted and a lot of business users too, large part of the reason I got out of the scanning hobby.

Re: Hobbies in Public Areas
It sounds like some of the issues we have at a local park area here, always having issues with fires and rubbish being dumped.
Any photos of your set up? I would love to see it.

Welcome to the group.
Where are you from? As Gary posted, that article provides a good reference of what ultralight radios are about on the market.
I used to own an R75, good solid radios.

Next to my soccer field, some moron has occasionally been letting off homemade fireworks at night for over 15 years and has never been caught.
I know that I would love to catch whoever it is because,

Hi,
I guess one's "absolute go-to" is always one's latest acquisition.
In my case it is the Tecsun PL-330, but I also use my XHDATA D-808, which was my previous "absolute
