Re: Airband Radio on Ultralight Radios
Thanks for the information Andy.
I want to see how far I can "push" Airband reception on these radios and find the best possible models which cover this band.--

Thanks for the information Dan, this radio is on my list to purchase when my funds allow :)
Does it "scan" the airband at all? That is one thing I do miss. I have a 30 year old scanner at home that

It sounds like several responses are from people who understand far more about Q than I do as it relates to MW loops.
I would think I should aim for the highest Q possible, but it sounds like if too

The first radio I noticed being offered in a clear case was the huge FreePlay clock spring wind up. Huge but a prison inmate would never have to buy batteries. The black case version in my collection

One thing to be aware of though is that often the clear prison versions lack certain in/out connections or features which are present in teh standard versions. Just FYI.

Occasionally I will try one of those unknown-name cheapies and so far I've never found a good one. Most are so egregiously bad on AM that they have spurious noises on my usual suburban AM signals

Re: Airband Radio on Ultralight Radios
My Digitech AR-1780 has airband and it seems to work quite well. I'm not far from a training airport in Melb Sth East called Moorabbin airport so it picks up those freqs well. The ATS is 120.9000MHz

Gary,
Your work is greatly appreciated. I end up using a Sony TR-84. Not ultralight, but my PL-310ET just had that annoying soft mute. I do have a Sony ICF-S10MK2 which works well, but if very cheap

My latest purchase from eBay was poor as stock but with a simple mod it has come to life.
