Re: Toroid Ferrite Loop Stick
The spacing was the same that I used in the article that wrote and at the time worked out to be the best option. The tuning was sharp, indicating high Q and the loop rotation was quite sharp also.

How did you decide the thickness of the spacer between the winding and the toroids?

I am impressed with a ferrite loop which compares so well to such a large air core loop. I have followed a number of articles available on line, including yours in the files section of this group

Re: Photos of the inside of the new Sony ICF-P26
It's there. It's mounted on the underside of the board. You can see the retaining wax dots and some of the coil peeking through a hole in the upper right of the first photo.

I don't see a ferrite rod??? I just got one of these to evaluate but haven't had time to take it out of the box yet.

It is not some thing I could do myself, but maybe start with a radio out of its case and improve the ferrite antenna, and maybe the tuning cap? I thought I saw the AF amp in that chip is rated at

Re: Photos of the inside of the new Sony ICF-P26
Thanks, Neil! Not much in there, is there? :-)
To those of you who know electronics, would it be possible-theoretically- to do a "chip-ectomy" and use the chip as the basis for a homebrew receiver?

Re: Photos of the inside of the new Sony ICF-P26
Thanks very much. I have three questions-
1- is this a new chip design?
2- What other radios use it?
3- Does it look like it should work especially well?
