Ababic or Middle-Eastern on 1450
I've been hearing this tonite on the PL-310 for a steady hour. A lookup indicates only one ethnic staation WCEV Cicero IL. However, there is also noted international 1449 R. Free Libya rated 500kW

Re: Matching transformer for PL-380
Yes. I think you need to ensure that the inductance of the secondary of the matching transformer is of a value that allows the radio innards to tune across the band you're interested in.

Hi Paul,
Thanks very much for all of your detailed work to create this suggested Ultralight Radio group logo! It's obvious that you invested a lot of time and effort to design and create the logo--

Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 11-8
Hello All,
Asian signals sounded pretty ghostly this morning, with their worst performance since Halloween. From 1315-1430 a die-hard collection of big guns on 594, 693, 774, 828 and 972 took turns

There is if you have removed the internal antenna and added a 1/8" jack to plug in your 7.5" loopstick. ;')

Re: Matching transformer for PL-380
There is no external antenna input on the PL-380. The DSP chip needs an inductor for AM/LW and a whip/wire for SW. The details are in the documentation at Silicone Labs website.

Re: Desktop antenna !!!!
The jack can be used to connect to the radio and can also be used to passively couple a wire antenna to the radio. The manual for the Terk does mention it.

Re: Matching transformer for PL-380
I don't think he is talking about directly soldering wires to the PL-380 antenna inputs. I think he is trying to match his 50 ohm coax to the input impedence of the antenna input using a torid

Re: Matching transformer for PL-380
You're absolutely right, Rick. The best results I've achieved with the Quantum loop + PL-380 combo is when the Quantum is inductively coupled to the 7.5" loopstick on the modified PL-380, by means of

Re: Desktop antenna !!!!
It seems that the UZ-77 is available, but shipping outside of Japan is not. Taking a wild guess, I would say that you could expect at least the same performance from a Quantum loop from Radio+. Gerry

Neat artwork, Paul!
To the uninitiated, that "boatanchor" FSL just might
give a misleading impression of "ultralight" . . .
I still want to see Gary with it on a tightrope!

Today I had some spare time so I had a play around with a possible logo for the group.
Let me know any feedback on it
