Re: 13 meter Reception on 21600
This morning about 1000UT (5AM EST) I received an E-QSL from KBC radio for the RX on 21600. Hopefully I can get some more time to listen to them on Tue or Wed.: the special programming is not on

Re: Snow on ground enhances AM daytime skip today
WGRB-AM 1390 kHz Chicago, Illinois perhaps? 5KW. But it is west of you.
Or WLCM-AM 1390 kHz Holt, Michigan. 5KW. North/northwest of you. Opposite of S/SE.
The Lynchburg station is WKPA. Doesn't come

Re: Was KOLM 1520 MN on day power, last night?
Perhaps that was critical hour time? Or did you receive it all night?
http://radio-locator.com/info/KOLM-AM indicates critical hour power as 10KW.

Was KOLM 1520 MN on day power, last night?
Had an ESPN outlet on 1520 doing as well as my local (Shelbyville). No apparent TOH ID just an "ESPN 1520, The Ticket." Into Mike and Mike at 0600.
I'm 99.9% sure of this one but just curious ifd

Re: Snow on ground enhances AM daytime skip today
It does, as you state. If you were to have the ground staked into the Earth, say 6-8 feet, there is the considerations of "wet" vs. "dry" ground. Moist soil is a better (ground) conductor. Desert

Re: Snow on ground enhances AM daytime skip today
IIRC resistivity of copper wire increases about 8% when wire temperature goes from 20 to 40 deg celsius.
So antenna Q goes up as the temperature drops?

A quick update/follow-up... 21600 is Bonus coverage specifically for the US/Can. their antenna is transmitting 300 Degrees at 250kW from Wertachtal, Germany. Website info indicates today, Christmas

Re: Snow on ground enhances AM daytime skip today
A good candidate for your 1390 kHz Religious Station is WKPA from Lynchburg, VA. Checking my logs, I don't have this one. AMLOGBOOK indicates 4700 Watts daytime.

There are quite a few religious stations, several to your S or SE on 1390 listed in Radio Locator, and a Family Radio station on 1380, KQKD in Redfield SD. Family Radio is playing mostly Christmas

Snow on ground enhances AM daytime skip today
We have about 3" of snow on grassy areas here in NE Ohio today.
So, for the heck of it, at about 1:30pm EST this afternoon, I grabbed my T615 and headphones and picked up 2 new URL radio catches from

Gapped ferrite FSL's
Just doing some googling on coil materials/winding methods (to see if I need to go to the expense of sourcing decent litz wire or sticking with my copper foil experiments) I found this

In line headphone volume control on closeout at Radio Shack
I found the ACCURIAN in line stereo 1/8th inch head phone volume control on close out for under $3 at my area Radio Shack. I have one of RS own brand, but it has a large opening around the volume

13 meter Reception on 21600
I know we are generally an AM/FM/LW group, but recently there has been a rather rare opportunity for reception on 21600 kHz in the 13 meter SW band. Generally the only station found here is R. Espana

I think what I like most about the ULR group is the documenting by so many members of just what is possible, and your logs show this of course Gary. The contributions of Allen Willie from Newfoundland
