Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
Okay, I'm looking at it right now... it looks like it's the B20.
The top marks are:
3420
B100
•030
which means:
- First line: 30 = Si4730; 20 = Firmware Revision 2.0.
- Second line: B = Revision

my guess is AM/SW/LW: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 kHz
FM: 90 and 120 kHz (wide band allows better RDS capture)
didn't read the manual, figured the old versions had this also along with de-emphasis selection.

Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
Interesting. Had not noticed that. Based on the specs for an AM/FM chip Silicon Labs produces (Si4736/37/38/39-C40) my guess is that the seven bandwidths are 6, 4, 3, 2.5, 2, 1.8, and 1 kHz.

My SRF39FP ran into the same situation a couple of months after a short distance fall. I can't see the ferrite is broken... but couldn't find cold soldering spots.

Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
Does anybody here have a PL-398MP and can open it up and tell us what chip version is being used in it?
I've written to Tecsun asking, but I doubt they'll reply.
