Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
Interesting. Had not noticed that. Based on the specs for an AM/FM chip Silicon Labs produces (Si4736/37/38/39-C40) my guess is that the seven bandwidths are 6, 4, 3, 2.5, 2, 1.8, and 1 kHz.

Re: More about deaf SRF-59 on the AM band
My SRF39FP ran into the same situation a couple of months after a short distance fall. I can't see the ferrite is broken... but couldn't find cold soldering spots.

Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
Does anybody here have a PL-398MP and can open it up and tell us what chip version is being used in it?
I've written to Tecsun asking, but I doubt they'll reply.

If you found some improvemnts already :), my advice is to read programming guide
You will understand a lot about flexibility D60 chip fine tuning in comparison with B20

The spec sheets are here:
D60:
http://www.slideshare.net/radiopaul/si4730-313435d60
B20:
http://www.slideshare.net/radiopaul/si4734-35b20
So yes there are some improvements in the B20 revision.

Re: Tecsun changed design PL-390
You are wrong:(
Just compare specs (B20 & D60) and you find better specs in FM:
- Audio Stereo Separation
- Sensitivity in 64-76Mhz
- Seek/Tune Time
My test on Sangean ATS-909X (D60) against PL-390

Well just after sunset. It was KADR 1400, Elkader IA, fading in momentarily with ID "AM 1400 KADR" at 2341 UTC. Station #924 (barefoot #912) heard on SRF-T615.

I looked into this after register/log-in. There are no specification changes to the chip, and it suggests a modification of coding and options. End Of Life (EOL) for all other upgrades was Nov.
