Relative DXing Gain of 7.5" Loopstick and 6" Diameter FSL

Re: Re Any New FSL Writeups in the Works?
Hi Jerry,
Your antenna questions are probably of interest to several DXers on the
Ultralightdx list, so I hope you'll agree that posting the answers on
the list would be helpful to others.

Re: Which Litz Wire (660 / 46 or 100/44) is BetterTo Order for 7,5 Fixed Loop?
Hi Jerry!
I can certainly appreciate your dilemma. I decided several months ago to follow the great work of Gary DeBock, Steve Ratzleff and other FSL experimenters rather than take on an FSL project

This is indeed a dilemma. If I want to build the 7.5 inch Ferrite Antenna, the less sensitive 100/44 wire will need to be used due to width restrictions. If I try to construct a larger (much more

Re: NEW Tecsun Pocket Radio DSP Model DR-777
I have seen this sold by one particular ebay-er with claims of "520-1710kHz" MW, and "87-108MHz" FM indicating US compatible usage.
These would be the most recent listings of the DR-777, so is it

Paul,
I think you are correct about skin effect amd current resistance, especially at RF frequencies below a couple MHz. Somewhere, I'veseen tables published by the Litz manufatureres giving losses

One other major and important consideration: there is a remarkable improvement in S unitage and audible gain if a secondary pick-up coil, when used for direct antenna coupling, is also made of 660/46

vagaries of the Palstar R30A S-Meter (I own one). Can

What? I guess I didn't explain very well.
What I meant by "Crystal Set" is to add a diode and a pair of sensitive headphones to a FSA and see what it can pick up compared with a single conventional

One test I would like to see is just how effective a FSA is when connected as a crystal set (but with no external
