One new station at sunset (2/25/11)
I managed to completely null close-by 930 WKY (5kW @ 91km) and hear a new station prior to sunset this evening. Receiver was a Sony SRF-T615.

ULR DX......1 NEW STATION @ Sunset....Plus a few Nice Relogs.......

The AM BCB was in pretty nice shape tonight at sunset. Even as early as 1600 EST I was hearing some nice stuff from the NorthWest!!!! A few Nice Relogs and ONE NEW STATION for both the ULR

Kevin - I have a couple ideas based on guessing, not knowledge of radio theory [since I have none].
1] The flat ferrite bars will have much better contact with the wire along one whole flat side,

On my 4 foot loop,[not especially high Q] it takes retuning the radio up to 3 or 4 Kc. off the transmitter frequency, and then retune the loop. It takes a few times doing this to get them both

It seems that the varactor-tuned front end gets stuck on where it wants to be; try detuning a khz and then come back - it often peaks that way for me.

The optimum aperture, ferrite length/thickness, etc. are things that I plan to try and evaluate once the ferrites arrive, assembling slightly different loops to evaluate differences
