mine seems OK with alkaline batteries. A month and half with same pack,using at least 15 min every day.
Alkalines, NiMH, Zinc-Carbon have different discharge curves....perhaps changing battery

My e100 is very gentle on batteries (I use alkalines) - not sure exactly
how many hours per batch, but I can certainly leave it lying around for
several weeks if I'm not using it much.
