Homebrew Antenna
Hello all:
I am not a technical or a DIY person. I am attempting to build an antenna that I saw somewhere online, basically two foot cross with 16 loops of bell wire attached to a variable capacitor.

Re: Antenna design questions-FARMERIK
It sounds like you are describing a spiral wound loop where the width of the loop is the width of the diameter of the wire. Here is a site with pictures of both the spiral wound and box wound

I see that the dual-conversion is listed as being for "AM". Since the
shortwave bands are AM, it could be that the dual conversion is only on
SW, as I've seen in other radios, including if memory

Gary, I'm looking forward to seeing your report. With what you've done at the QTH in July with Ultralight gear, I'd like to see what you and some of the other West Coast guys could do there in

Hi Gary
A remarkable recording! It's always interesting to hear your TP catches. Who would have thought one could also hear 2 DU's fight it out on a barefoot ultralight at that distance - over 7 370

Thanks for this Sarmento! I will be interested to see the results of your comparison studies with the larger Brazilian ferrite bar antenna. My comparison between a 19 and 27 inch ferrite bar antennas
