WBOB Maintenance Test AGAIN TONIGHT--BUT WITH MORSE CODE & SWEEPS
Les Rayburn
For everyone who didn’t manage to log WBOB 600 last night, never fear. The station will be repeating the test again tonight starting at Midnight Eastern Time (0400) but this time will be running Morse Code IDs, sweep tones, off-hook SFX, etc. which are much better able to cut through the noise and static.

Re: Kaimeda SRW 710-S
Martin Courcel
My Kaimeda arrived in the post couple days ago. They seem to be the same but they aren't totally identical. On my Retekess the volume control is inactive when the recording function is in use. On the Kaimeda you can still change the volume when recording. There may be other differences... 73, Martin. Le 13/05/2022 à 07:37, william yim a

Tonight's 600 - WBOB DX Test - Livestream from DX Central
All,
I will be running an unmanned livestream of the 600 WBOB DX Test this evening on our YouTube channel. Will try to start the stream around 11:45 EDT / 10:45 CDT / 0345 UTC.
I won't be doing any announcing or anything, just running the Perseus through a single antenna on Perseus software. Wanted to make sure we had an archive of the test for others to compare to.
Good luck to you all in trying to pick them up!

Generally speaking, Both of them are identically the same. I think they are all from the same OEM. However, you may find some Chinese variants with Bluetooth as well at the same price. You can check it out. 😁 Martin Courcel <courcel@...> 於 2022年5月2日 週一 01:33 寫道:

To: main@UltralightDX.groups.io Subject: [UltralightDX] General coverage passive antenna, RF Systems GMDSS Date: 6-5-2022 01:20:34 Hello. Am looking for an R.F. Systems vertical passive antenna, made in Holland years ago. It is about 6 feet tall, goes by name GMDSS type antenna. I got mine from Universal Radio years ago and it was so sensitive on general coverage, etc. Unfortunately my antenna crashed down in a storm, and now it’s intermittent on receive. By just bending it will cause to receive on and off. It’s white in color and bottom has a metal sleeve with the SO 239 connection for coaxial cable. It cost me a bit of money…. Any one of the members might have one for sale? I live in Santa Cruz, ca. Hopefully I placed this request in the proper place. The antenna is totally sealed, etc. Any help appreciated. Kaimeda SRW 710-S
Martin Courcel
Hi, Anyone know if the Kaimeda SRW 710-S is totally similar to the Retekess V115 (a.k.a. TIVDIO V115)? It seems to be sightly cheaper. 73, Martin.

Bruce,

Aurora conditions typically take time to develop, and I think the flare is occurring too close to the start of the test to have much hope of significant Au conditions to develop. But any degradation of the WTAM signal would be welcome. It might also help those in Europe. I’m expecting poor to below-average conditions but would love to be surprised. Conditions the past few nights have been pretty good. Last night had really solid signals coming from the SW and West here. 73, Les Rayburn, N1LF 121 Mayfair Park Maylene, AL 35114 EM63nf NRC & IRCA Courtesy Program Committee Chairman Member WTFDA, MWC Perseus SDR, Elad FDM-S2 SDR, AirSpy + Discovery, SDRPlay RSP-2 Pro, Sony XDR-F1HD [XDR Guy Modified], Dennon TU-1500RD, Sangean HDT-1X, Ray Dees RDS Decoders, Korner 9.2 Antenna, FM-6 Antenna, Kitz Technologies KT-501 Pre-amps, Quantum Phaser, Wellbrook ALA1530 Loop, Wellbrook Flag, Clifton Labs Active Whip. “Nothing but blues and Elvis, and somebody else’s favorite song…”

"Long-distance reception on MW is less likely in these conditions."
Not entirely true. This could actually enhance long distance reception to the south. Often a geomagnetic disturbance will subdue northern signals which in this case could reduce co-channel interference from 50 kW WTAM for DX'ers in the eastern U.S. --
